Mei Tais and Half bucklesMei Tais are asian style slings where there is usually a rectangular panel of fabric which creates the body of the carrier, a waistband and 2 shoulder straps. the straps are all secured by tying a secure knot. Half buckles are most commonly made with a waistband that is secured by a buckle, and then long shoulder straps tied with a knot.
These slings are great for those who need a more adjustable carrier or who would like more options in fabrics and styles. The entry prices for mei tais are also cheaper than that of buckled carriers although with endless customisation options with some makers, they can be as expensive as you like! Woven Wraps and Ring Slings
Woven wraps come in all sorts of gorgeous patterns, prints and fabric blend. They vary in size and price depending on what you're looking for. There is an vast amount of different styles of carry you can do depending on how you wrap it around your body. They are the most versatile sling and can carry babies of any age, however learning to use a woven wrap is probably the biggest learning curve of all the slings. I also have wrap conversion ring slings. These are woven wraps that have been cut and two rings sewn in as a tightening system. They vary in shoulder style depending on how they have been sewn; with a 'gathered' shoulder considered the most popular. It is a sling that carries the baby in an off-centre position on your chest, or with an older baby on your hip. The weight of the baby is distributed over one shoulder.
